Gun-Free Policy Update 02-23-2015

Any elementary or secondary student who is determined to have carried a firearm onto, or to have possessed a firearm on public elementary or secondary school premises, public school-provided transportation, or areas of facilities while being used exclusively by public schools, shall be expelled from school for not less than one year and parents and law enforcement officials will be notified as required under RCW 28A.600.420 and RCW 9.41.280.  Students who violate this policy will be subject to discipline, including a one-year expulsion for a violation involving a firearm.  However, the superintendent or designee may modify the one-year expulsion on a case-by case basis pursuant to the applicable hearing provisions of Ch 392-400 WAC.
