State Testing for 6th Grade to 12th Grade - sorry for the wrong month in the last post

Posted Date: 04/19/26 (01:02 PM)

1. Morning Essentials

  • Prioritize Sleep: Ensure students get 8–10 hours of rest the night before a scheduled test.
  • Healthy Breakfast: Aim for proteins and complex carbs (eggs, oatmeal, yogurt) rather than high-sugar cereals to avoid mid-test energy crashes.
  • On-Time Arrival: Arriving a few minutes early helps students settle in and reduces "testing jitters."

2. Student Strategy Checklist

  • Charge Your Device: If testing on a laptop or Chromebook, make sure it is fully charged the night before.
  • Read Carefully: Read the entire prompt or question before selecting an answer.
  • Pace Yourself: Don’t spend too much time on one difficult question. Flag it, move on, and return to it at the end.
  • Breathe: If you feel overwhelmed, take three deep breaths to reset your focus.

3. Parent Support

  • Keep it Low-Pressure: Remind your student that these tests are simply a "snapshot" of what they’ve learned.
  • Attendance Matters: Please try to avoid scheduling doctor or dentist appointments on known testing days to minimize the need for make-up sessions.
  • Celebrate the Effort: Plan a small treat or a fun activity for the weekend to celebrate their hard work.
